Since July 2011, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim have taken the lead in the creation of KENZO. With them, the claw recovers the precursor spirit at the origin of its success. Founders of the concept store "Opening Ceremony" in New York and creators of the homonymous label, they take the reins of KENZO. Prescribers of impertinent collections and independent labels, they mix successfully emerging and confirmed brands defying the agreed expectations of the moment. Like the young Kenzo Takada, who knocked out the codes of the 70s, this new creative duo breaks with established codes. Inhabited of a sensibility of today, they consider the style KENZO like a set of rules resolutely personal. Originally from Japan, Kenzo only dreamed of Paris. His fantasy will become reality in 1970 with his first shop Galerie Vivienne, "Jungle Jap". From the beginning, he opposed the codes of Parisian couture and the confined creative universe of the time. Visionary and surrounded by a turbulent band of friends, he anticipates the multiculturalism and freedom of Western society. Californians of Asian origin, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim favor the freedom of lags and constructive impertinences. Collaborating with avant-garde artists, even the ordinary is adorned in them a creative twist. A spontaneity to which they associate professional qualities more thoughtful today indispensable.
